Much has happened since the last post. Today has been a great day — time to relax, do some household chore type of activities, and just relax. So I figured I would take the opportunity for a little update. I think the biggest news has been how much Elisabeth’s work has picked up since her promotion. For approximately three months, she has been working anywhere from 50-70 hours a week. This is “somewhat normal” for the busy season at WorldStrides and it has certainly been a task to keep on top of everything and maintain some kind of balance in other areas of life. But we have been managing. Other exciting news is that Elisabeth was accepted into VCU’s Master of Social Work Program. She plans on deferring for another year so that we can save up a little bit more.
In other news, it was great to have Mama and Papa Barahona visiting last week. My Mr.-fix-it father spent much of the time doing little repairs and projects, including putting together our new grill and patio furniture!! (Pictures forthcoming). Elisabeth and my folks also spent some time setting up a garden in the front and back of the house — pictures also forthcoming.
That will be all for now — hopefully we can be more regular at putting up some news.
And finally, here it is. I have updated the album to show the pictures of our new house! Of course, to get a really good look, you will have to come visit!
I’m embarrassed to say that for months we’ve been saying we are going to post some pictures and so far we never have. Shameful. We had our housewarming party last night and it just reminded me that we need to do this. Of course, for the past month, since we moved in over Thanksgiving, we have been hard at work unpacking, organizing and enjoying his space. And of course there were also holidays. So without waiting anymore, I will at least post some of the outside. Hopefully the inside ones will come soon…
October part two now posted on the Photos page. Mary Laura, Mama Krabill and I met up in DC for a wonderful day. Then, the Zilens and Barahonas met up in between for a fun and great weekend. Then, we managed to catch Barack Obama in town – we’re fans of the future president!

Elisabeth has the camera in NYC where she is visiting Renee. Moments to get on the blog or Facebook or email is rare these days as things at work have picked up – Elisa got promoted, and as we go through the process of making our first home purchase. Lots to learn and the packing has begun…
